Looking
around the room at Emek Hebrew Academy in Los Angeles, one could
only wonder, is this sunny Southern California or a warmer satellite
of Milwaukee, Wisconsin? The room represented 3 decades of WITS
alumni; from students from WITS year number one to current WITS
High School students, all gathered together to celebrate the time
they spent at WITS. While the evening featured great food, inspiring
words of Torah from Rabbi Wachsman and stories of the old days,
the most remarkable facet of the evening was how many of the WITS
alumni, many of whom had not seen each other in a decade or more,
embraced each other immediately, spending the evening catching
up on news, good and bad, as if nothing had changed and not time
had passed at all. The room was not filled with old schoolmates
from years gone by, but old friends connected to each other forever
because of the wonderful years they spent together at WITS. And
even as the evening drew to a close, and old friends reluctantly
said goodbye to one another, there was a palpable feeling in the
room that we will always all remain an important part of the WITS
family not only important to the Yeshiva and its Rebbeim, but
to each other. |
