WITS is located in a lovely residential area of Milwaukee
bordering on the northern suburbs of the city. The self-contained campus
is situated on six wooded acres overlooking Lake Michigan
.
In January 2000, the Yeshiva moved into a newly constructed state-of-the-art
Educational building. The 25,000 square foot Educational building contains
a spacious, magnificently accented Bais Medrash, ten classrooms, computer
laboratory, science laboratory and educational offices.
The main building was erected by a lumber baron in the 1900s. This structure,
together with its attached south wing, houses the dormitory, kitchen and
dining room, a large dormitory study hall, recreational areas, library,
laundry facilities and administrative offices. The open grounds and wooded
areas lend themselves easily to a variety of sports and leisure activities,
which are close at hand and therefore very convenient for the students.
A new basketball court provides the students with recreational opportunities
during their free time.
Library Facilities
WITS houses four distinct libraries for student use (when additional materials
are needed, students use local libraries):
A comprehensive Hebrew Judaica Library - This library is housed in the
Bais Medrash. It has a full complement of works to afford appropriate
research
in the study of Gemorah, Chumash,
Navi, Halacha Mussar and Machshava
An English Language Judaica Library - this is located in a reading room
in the main building. Students are encouraged to use its volumes for spare
time learning and reading. Topics include Chumash Jewish history, Torah
thought, textual works and biographies.
A General Studies Library - this library is located in the main building.
A main section of the library contains reference works, which provide
materials for students' term papers and oral presentations. A CD Tower
housing reference material on CD-ROMs is connected to the computer network
and provides students with ready access to an ever-growing electronics
library.
A Judaica Tape Library - this is located in the dormitory. The library
contains tapes of the entire Talmud, copies of each Shmuess given in the
Yeshiva, recordings of all guest lectures, as well as tapes of popular
series given on Parshas HaShavua, Tanach, Jewish history and Torah Hashkafa.
Dormitory Living
The dormitory is located in the main house, the attached south wing
and a separate building. Because the buildings were once a private
home, the
dorm rooms and lounge areas have a "homelike" feeling which
creates a relaxing atmosphere for the student during nonschool hours.
The boys are responsible for maintaining clean, orderly rooms.
